Infield Course/Chapter 5 - Feeds to 2nd Baseman

Foley is a retired Major League baseball player, having played shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Montreal Expos. After graduating high school he continued his baseball playing career at Dade South Community College until the Cincinnati Reds drafted him in the 7th round of the 1977 Major League Baseball amateur draft. On April 9, 1983, Foley made his major league debut for the Reds. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in 1985. In 1987 he was traded to the Montreal Expos and batted .293 during that season. In 1993, Foley signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played there for two seasons before signing with the Montreal Expos for the 1995 season, his last as a player. Foley began his coaching career with the Tampa Bay Rays in 1996, managing their Rookie Ball team in the Pioneer League. From 1996 -1999, Foley was the field coordinator for the Rays before becoming the director of the minor league operations. After managing the Maryvale Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League in 2001, he signed back on with the Tampa Bay Rays, and has been the third base coach and infield coach for the Rays. He was just named the bench coach in 2014.
